Student Welfare

Excel Education has a welfare officer (Miss Magda Turbak) available for students to discuss any problems or issues they may be experiencing. This can be related to anything to do with the course to personal problems outside the school. We understand that sometimes just by speaking to someone can help you feel better. If it is in the power of Excel Education to help…we will or we will direct you to appropriate local services available for you.

What We Can Help With:

Opening a Bank Account

Studying and living in the UK you will need a UK bank account, and should aim to set this up as soon as possible. You will find it essential for managing you day-to-day living expenses, such as rent payments, buying food, travel and social money etc.

Registering with a Doctor

We strongly recommend that you register with an NHS general practitioner as soon as you arrive at Excel Education, even if you do not normally need to see a doctor. Anyone who is not eligible for NHS care is strongly advised to take out medical insurance before arriving in the UK.

Council Tax

Council tax is mandatory which every student has to pay annually and the council letter that you get from the college will be used to get discount in council tax.

Applying for National Insurance Number

Getting a National Insurance Number in London is mandatory and can be beneficial to you in several different ways.

The NI number that you get in London will be a specific number that is allocated to you, and will be able to track the contributions that you have made to the system since the time you joined it. This is the best form of a social security number that you can get.

Student Travel

Students are entitled to discounted travel on rail services by using a Student RAIL Card. You can obtain a student application form at any rail station and bring to the reception to get it stamped.

We have a qualified first-aid trained staff member within Excel Education to deal with any injuries sustained on Excel Education premises. If you have any health concerns you can talk to a member of staff and they should be able to direct you to local NHS facilities.
To ensure awareness of on-going arrangements in response to Covid-19 however Safeguarding remains ‘Everybody’s Responsibility’.
